Idaho Statesman - Varsity Extra Athletes of the week (2-7)

BOYS BASKETBALL
Dominic Hulsey, Liberty Charter: The 6-foot-6 junior averaged 27 points per game in two contests last week. In a 56-46 victory over Cascade on Jan. 3, Hulsey contributed 32 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots. He then added 22 points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists and one blocked shot in just 14 minutes of play in a 59-21 win over Riverstone International on Jan. 6 to help Liberty Charter improve to 10-1 overall.


GIRLS BASKETBALL
Nella Redman, Weiser: The 5-foot-10 senior post helped the Wolverines (11-2, 3-0 3A SRV) pick up three victories last week by averaging 15.3 points per game. Redman started the week with 12 points in a 55-39 win over Parma on Jan. 3. In a key 3A Snake River Valley matchup against Fruitland, Redman scored a game-high 22 points and shot 66 percent from the field on Weiser's way to a 56-37 victory. Redman wrapped up the week with 12 points and six rebounds in a 54-32 win against Ontario, OR, on Jan. 7.


WRESTLING
Michael Cook, Kuna: The sophomore was one of just three District Three wrestlers to win an individual championship and the only local to repeat at the Rollie Lane Invitational. Cook, who won the title at 103 pounds last season, claimed the 120-pound title and was voted the most outstanding wrestler in the lightweight division, helping the Kavemen to a sixth-place finish, which was the best among local teams participating in the event.
